MISSION: The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our Rotarians to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.

VISION: Through individual Rotary Clubs, we want to provide a personalized dictionary to every third grade student in District 6110. In this way we hope to help them to improve their communication skills and make the most of their education.

Excel Spreadsheet for Schools

Forward this Excel template to the school(s) that your club will serve. Ask that they populate the columns with the students First Name in the appropriate column and their Last Name in the Last Name column. Include the classroom's teacher name. (By asking the school to provide the students names, there should be a reduced chance for misspelled names.)

The address for your club can fill three lines, should you desire to include the club's address for returned Thank You notes.

Once the Excel file has been filled and is returned to your club, you can then determine how many dictionaries and bookplates you will need to order. When you receive the bookplate labels, go ahead and imprint the students names onto the bookplate labels using the completed Excel file by following our simple, but detailed instructions found here.
